Marlin Canary Wharf is located in a purpose built building at South Quay, London, United Kingdom. This was my last leg of stay in service apartments, which lasted 2 weeks. Room rate varies on a daily basis but worked out to be around £120 (excluding VAT) for a one bedroom apartment.
When I checked in, I was greeted by a clearly overworked front desk personnel. While I was completing the check in form, he was busy fielding calls from irate guests. But after a long day, all I wanted was the keys to my room and was least bothered by a lack of a warm welcome.
The one bedroom apartment offers a decent size living room, open planned kitchen, bedroom and separate bathroom. Marlin offers free basic broadband (1 Mbps) with the option of upgrading up to 100 Mbps (24hrs £5.00; 1 week £20.00; 1 month: £50.00) . However the Internet service in my apartment did not work during my stay despite bringing this to the attention of the front desk on multiple occasions.
The building is adjacent to the Millwall Fire Brigade, which meant the curtains in the living room and bedroom had to be drawn at all time for privacy. Sound insulation isn’t great and light sleepers might get woken up by sirens or training drills in the courtyard.
Overall, Marlin Canary Wharf is a no frills service apartment good for stays less than a week if all you are asking for is a relatively clean room and a comfortable bed.
