Whilst at the supermarket, I made an impulse purchase of a box of Nescafé Dolce Gusto Green Tea Latte capsules. I was fascinated with the milk froth despite having reservations that added sugar will blemish the taste of the beverage.
Having the capsules in hand, I had to make a choice between the Nescafé Dolce Gusto Melody 3 or Nescafé Dolce Gusto Mini Me. Both machines are fairly similar in specifications except in the case of the former, one has to manually dispense the water. I settled for the latter.
The machine is simple to use. All I had to do is insert the capsule, select the volume of water and use the joy stick to activate the hot water. In the case of the Nescafé Dolce Gusto Green Tea Latte, I had to first fill my mug with the milk capsule before repeating the process with the green tea capsule.
Whilst the process is straightforward and quick, there are several drawbacks. Firstly, the water temperature is warm not hot. It might be fine for tea but I suspect it might not be hot enough to bring out the full flavour of coffee. Secondly, the milk froth is a disappointment. It taste synthetic and lacks the full body that comes with milk frothed in the conventional way. Thirdly, the beverage is too sweet. It is possible to adjust the volume of water to dilute the drink but it takes a fair deal of guesswork to come out with the right proportion of water to milk power and green tea.
All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this product to a tea or coffee lover.
