A memorable evening in 2016
It is not everyday I am treated to a 5 course sumptuous fine dining experience in the comfort of a home setting. It is no small feat especially when there are no sous chefs involved. Thank you, S for such an memorable evening. A, 祝你年年有今日，岁岁有今朝。You truly deserve all that life has to offer.
Starters: Garden salad, Bisque and Choux pastry

Tolerance
As society move further away from communism to capitalism, youths are encouraged to think creatively and outside the box. Consequently, individualism is encouraged, as one has to stand out from the masses to success. But has society forgotten that individualism and tolerance have to go hand in hand? Without the latter, individuals become fixated that it is their way or the highway, morphing into extremism. Whilst society in right in encouraging individualism, we must accept that every individual is unique in their own right and their differences should be embraced.

Money can do wonders. But for the many who are living below the poverty line, doling out hard cash might actually be counter productive. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. The needy need tools for survival, tools in the form of knowledge. Many take primary school education as a given, but you will be surprise to learn that in many countries, many are denied basic education due to prohibitive costs or infrastructure.
I do hope more can be done in the fight against illiteracy so that all people, regardless of nationality, language, race, class, or gender will have an opportunity to fulfil their full potential.

Am I X, Y or Z?
I am baffled whenever I come across the term Generation X,Y/Z in the broadsheets. So which of these alphabet represent me? As it turns out, there isn’t a definitive age range but boarding speaking, Generation X birth years falls between 1965 and 1980; Generation Y birth years falls between 1981 and 2000; Generation Z or Millenniums are born post year 2000.
By that same token, would the generation born pre 1965 be known as Gen Wers (as a cultural generation)?

What are you waiting for?
It is never too late to learn
There is an adage that it is never too late to learn. Whilst this is true, retention of information is definitely easier during formative years. Growing up, it was a constant struggle learning Mandarin as a second language, in part because English is a lingua franca in my community but more importantly, memorising each and every character is an absolute test of memory skills.
But I have gradually learn to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese scripts and nuances of Chinese vocabulary. So after 25 years, I will be picking up a Chinese novel and putting my dusty dictionary to good use.
